Westair have recently introduced the new 2018, SCR 7.5 – 15kw PM range. The PM features a high efficiency direct-drive, permanent magnet motor and a VSD inverter mounted on a patented air receiver tank. In applications where air demand fluctuates, the energy savings from running this compact VSD unit, in comparison to a fixed speed rotary screw, can be as much as 60%.
Most compressor manufacturers don’t offer permanent magnet variable speed drive compressors, in this size range, as the premium price would be unaffordable. It would take too many years to see a benefit to the customer. This is not true with SCR, and when you hear prices you probably won’t believe they are true.
SCR have calculated that some users with fluctuating air demands, can pay-back the full price of the unit from power savings in as little as 1 year, although 2 years is more likely and still incredible. To introduce them into the market they are actually lower cost than some fixed speed compressors!
In summary – 7.5-15kw, VSD, up to 60% power savings and cheaper than some fixed speed rotary.
